Drive Chain

Salut French Riders
A question I need answering regarding my drive chain, so hopefully someone can help?
My Gladius has a rated DID 520VM2 drive chain as stock. (As per manual)
I've been thinking of upgrading it to the O-ring type that I hear is a smoother chain and slightly more robust. So my question is this:
Will any 520 O-ring chain be OK to use? Or must it be a 520VM2 type?
Secondly, what are the real advantages of changing?

Hi DavPag1
If I'm not mistaken the "520" of the reference represent the step of the chain.
Mecanically speaking I can't see a problem of changing model if the new chain has the same step, total lenght and width.
for the 520 O-ring the width is obviously different but I cannot confirm it will fit on the gladius chain track
I think the best thing to do is to find 520 O-ring data sheet and measure in-situ the minimum width available on the chain track. I cannot help you on that I'm not at home to check for te next 3 weeks.
anyway that's a very interisting topic !

Hi Smiley and Balskin
Yes it seems a subject that an answer is not readily available. I've tried two other forums - one in the UK (for SV/Gladius) and one here in the Philippines (all types motorcycles).
No one seems to be able to answer my question so far! I thought it would of been simple; or don't Gladius riders change their chain to a better quality one?
Will wait and see if any more ideas come in.
